FAQs

Q:
How do Power Hunt appliances work?
A:
A: Power Hunt 12 volt appliances use a patented power strip system that connects directly to any standard 12 volt auto or marine battery for access to high amperage current and your batteries full electrical potential. High amperage means high performance and Power Hunt 12V appliances deliver power and efficiency that lighter socket and inverter powered products simply cannot achieve. The Power Strip can be used to power any of Power Hunt's high performance 12 volt appliances including our heater, hair dryer, coffee makers, cookware and additional products in development.

Q:
How do I use Power Hunt appliances?
A:
Power Hunt 12 volt appliances are easy to use. Simply connect the required power strip to any 12 volt automotive or marine battery using the supplied hardware. Plug an appliance into the power strip, turn on the power and you are ready to experience a new lever of 12 volt performance. The power strip can be permanently installed in your vehicle, boat, cabin, etc. or it can be keep stored away and simply connected when you are ready use.

Q:
What are the advantages of using Power Hunt appliances?
A:
1. Far superior performance than lighter socket powered products
2. Much higher efficiency than inverter powered products
3. Products are designed for travel and build to withstand rough use
4. Safety (no shock hazard, reverse polarity preventing plug, overload protection)
5. Low initial investment

Q:
Why not use a lighter socket powered appliance?
A:
12 volt appliances that draw power from a vehicle lighter socket are underpowered and perform poorly. This is because lighter sockets use light gauge wiring and were never designed to power accessories that draw high amperage. Amperage is the key to performance and vehicle lighter/power sockets simply cannot supply enough.

Q: Why not use an inverter powered appliance?
A:
Inverters are costly, present a shock hazard, generate excessive heat and are inefficient.  As much as 40% or 1000 watts of your batteries power can be lost during the conversion process.  Inverters can be used with home appliances but these are bulky, fragile and not well suited for the rigors of travel, trucking, camping or boating.

Q:
I don't have an automotive or marine battery can I still use Power Hunt appliances?
A:
Power Hunt offers the Mobile Pack battery pack that allows you to use your Power Hunt 12 volt appliances anywhere without a separate battery, power strip or wiring.

Q:
Do I really need a power strip or mobile pack to run my Power Hunt appliance?
A:
Yes, Power Hunt appliances use a patented reverse polarity preventing plug that is only compatible with the Power Hunt power strip or Mobile Pack battery pack.

Q:
What is the PNP System?
A:
The PNP System is a system to transfer high amperage power directly from a battery using a patented, high efficiency power strip that is designed to accommodate all Power Hunt 12 volt appliances.

Q:
Why does the Power Strip PNP-100A have an alert and flashing red light?
A:
When the Power Strip is overloaded a sound alert and flashing red light are triggered. This alerts the user that there is an overload condition that could cause the fuse to blow or damage equipment. If this occurs, immediately shut off the system and unplug the appliance that is causing the overload.

Q:
I have connected and plugged in my appliance but it is not working?
A:
1. Check all connections to ensure they are tight
2. If system still does not work, check the main power strip fuse and replace if blown or damaged
3. Check your battery condition, start the vehicle or recharge the battery to ensure adequate voltage is available
